Frequently asked questions

Enter your text (foreground) color and background color as hex values or pick them, and the tool computes the WCAG contrast ratio between them. It then shows pass or fail badges for AA and AAA at both normal and large text sizes, plus a live preview so you can see the pairing.

WCAG 2.2 Level AA requires a ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text, while the stricter Level AAA requires 7:1 for normal text and 4.5:1 for large text. User-interface components and graphics need at least 3:1.

WCAG defines large text as at least 18pt (about 24px) for regular weight, or 14pt (about 18.66px) when bold. Anything smaller than that is treated as normal text and must meet the higher 4.5:1 (AA) threshold.
