Enter the appliance's power, hours of use per day, and your price per kWh to see what it costs to run per day, month, and year.

Frequently asked questions

Divide the appliance's wattage by 1,000 to get kilowatts, multiply by the hours it runs to get kilowatt-hours (kWh), then multiply by your price per kWh. For example, a 1,500 W air conditioner running 8 hours uses 12 kWh — at 0.25 per kWh that's 3.00 per day. This calculator does all of that for you and projects it per month and year.

It's on your electricity bill, usually listed as the unit rate or price per kWh. Rates vary a lot by country, region, plan, and even time of day, so use the rate from your own bill for the most useful estimate.

This is a usage-only estimate. Real bills often add standing or fixed daily charges, taxes, and tiered or time-of-use rates. Also, an appliance's label wattage is its maximum draw — devices like fridges and air conditioners cycle on and off, so their average draw can be lower.

Yes — it's free, with no sign-up, and it runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded or stored anywhere, and it works with any currency because you supply the rate.
