Yes. If the end time is earlier than the start time — say 22:00 to 06:00 — it treats the shift as running past midnight and adds 24 hours, giving 8 hours rather than a negative result.

7 hours 30 minutes is 7.50 in decimal hours, because 30 minutes is half an hour rather than 0.30. Timesheets and hourly billing normally want the decimal form, so both are shown side by side.
